The Safari Jacket originated in the early 20th century taking a nod from the British troops stationed in Africa (1899-1902 Second Boer War) wearing khaki-colored uniforms made of cotton. Civilians touring Africa on safari adopted the look into a safari jacket and most famously worn by Theodore Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway. Hollywood took notice and the jacket appeared in many movies being worn by the likes of James Bond, Clark Gable, Gregory Peck and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. In 1967 Yves Saint Laurent started a craze for safari jacket-themed clothing and it helped define 1970's style. Since the 2010's the "field jacket" name took over and the look adopted into many different fabrics and has helped it become a staple in men's fashion.
SAMSON brings you this dashing safari jacket in it's classic khaki color but in an elegant herringbone pattern. Fabric is made by Brisbane Moss in the UK making fine fabrics since 1858.
